Evaly is considered Bangladesh’s most debated e-commerce site till now. With aggressive discounts and extraordinary cashback offers, they managed to become one of the largest e-commerce sites in less than 3 years. Even the so-called e-commerce powerhouse had devised a price plan that shook the whole retail sector.
Evaly was one of Bangladesh’s biggest commercial scams and was widely publicized after RAB arrested Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Rassel and Chairman Shamima Nasrin on September 16, 2016. Evaly was terminated by a case filed by a consumer called Farhad Hossain at the High Court. A month later, on October 16, 2021, Evaly announced the closure of its website and app through Facebook.
On 18 October 2021, retired Justice of the Appellate Division AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury was appointed as the chairman of the board by the court. The Board consisted of Fakhruddin Ahmed as Chartered Accountant, Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz as Lawyer, and Rezaul Ahsan (Local Government and Rural Development Department).
What is going on with the platform that has garnered so much traction so quickly? Now that it has been closed for quite a long time what will happen next? Will the customers get their money back?
