Evaly is considered Bangladesh’s most debated e-commerce site till now. With aggressive discounts and extraordinary cashback offers, they managed to become one of the largest e-commerce sites in less than 3 years. Even the so-called e-commerce powerhouse had devised a price plan that shook the whole retail sector.
Evaly was one of Bangladesh’s biggest commercial scams and was widely publicized after RAB arrested Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Rassel and Chairman Shamima Nasrin on September 16, 2016. Evaly was terminated by a case filed by a consumer called Farhad Hossain at the High Court. A month later, on October 16, 2021, Evaly announced the closure of its website and app through Facebook.
On 18 October 2021, retired Justice of the Appellate Division AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury was appointed as the chairman of the board by the court. The Board consisted of Fakhruddin Ahmed as Chartered Accountant, Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz as Lawyer, and Rezaul Ahsan (Local Government and Rural Development Department).

Release of Former Chairman of Evaly
After long 6 months, Kashimpur prison in Gazipur has granted bail to Evaly chairman Shamima Nasrin. She was discharged at 5:30 p.m on 6 April 2022. As per the statement of Kashimpur Women’s Central Jails senior superintendent Halima Khatun Evaly chairperson Shamima Nasrin’s bail papers arrived on April 5. This event sparked the desire for getting the money back for the customers.
After the release of Former Evaly chairperson Shamima Nasrin, she shared half of her shares with her mother Farida Talukder, and her brother-in-law Md. Mamunur Rashid. She owned 60% (six lakh shares) of Evaly. She gave her two relatives 3 lakh shares and now she owns 3 lakh shares.
Using this information, Shamima Nasrin petitioned to join the High Court in the linked case (application for termination of Evaly Company). Then Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam approved the government’s request for a single company bench.

Evaly CEO Rassel got bail in 9 cases
On 21 April 2022, Evaly CEO Mohammad Rassel was granted bail in nine cases filed over the embezzlement of customers’ money. However, he’s not been released yet because of several other pending cases. Customers are now eagerly waiting for the release of the former Managing Director.
New case filed
Amongst the progress made by the joint effort of Evaly Customer’s Association and the lawyer of evaly, a businessman named Amit Banik filed a case in the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Amli Court on Thursday 12 May 2022 afternoon. Former managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of e-commerce company Evaly, accused of embezzling money through fraud. Russell, his wife Shamima Nasrin, the former chairman of the company, and seven others have been sued. Amit Banik is a resident of the Thana Road area of Rangpur city.
Now again the tension has arisen to a greater degree amongst the customers.
On various social media platforms including telegram, customers have expressed their desire to release the former managing director of the company Mohammad Rassel as soon as possible. They also demand the transfer of ownership back to the former chairman of evaly Shamima Nasrin.
