Dead birds have a special value to a class of people. Let’s explain with an example why the value of carcasses is higher than other birds. After a few days, the birds will start chirping as soon as they see the host. In the behavior of the birds, it seems that they have become ‘devotees’.
However, the true nature of the birds’ devotion to God can be understood with a little examination. Once the birdcage door is opened, the birds will fly away right in front of your eyes; Apart from that dead bird, no other bird will return to that well-equipped cage to eat the food of their choice.
What is meant by this?
The dead bird, devoid of any sense of freedom, lives only in man-made cages and prefers to speak in the language it is taught. Then it must be understood that the sense of freedom of all the birds except the carcasses is so great that even if they move freely in the open sky and spend their days on half-starvation, they do not get that joy even after eating delicious food from a well-equipped cage. Now the question is, is the pursuit of human freedom in the best place in the animal kingdom less than that of birds? Certainly not!

From the dawn of the creation of the state, first the socialist, then the people were ruled by the most powerful person. At that time the persecution of people’s sense of freedom was not so intense. Over time, the spread of education has led to the development of human knowledge, which has led to the emergence of a sense of freedom, one of the hallmarks of which is that as a citizen of the state, man wants to determine his own ruler. This has resulted in the creation of a popular system of government in the modern state called ‘democracy’.
However, its journey is very difficult. Democracy is advancing over time with the formation of leadership from within the united common people and victory in the hard struggle against the powerful dictator. And as long as this democracy survives in the world, it must survive by fighting against the dictator. There is no guarantee that any ethnic group that breaks the dictatorship and returns to democracy will last long. Guards are needed to make it long lasting. And this guard is the opposition political party, which we can call the main condition of democracy. Again, the stronger the opposition, the more the basic human rights of the state will be protected. Weak opposition parties can never protect democracy. In this case, the rulers with the flag of democracy also established a more difficult dictatorship under the guise of democracy with the help of people with the nature of a dead bird in the guise of democracy.
The traditional persecution of the people’s sense of independence began to intensify from the time when education began to spread among the people of this country towards the end of British rule in the course of long colonial or dictatorial rule. In continuation of this, when the then leadership showed the people of this country the dream of independence, all the freedom-loving common people responded and painted the streets with blood and thus the state called Pakistan was created. Then it’s time to fulfill the dream. But in reality, the leadership that dreamed of democracy for the people of this country, they re-established a new dictatorship. That is, the common people did not get the promised democracy and the ruling class changed; The beginning was the Pakistani rule instead of the British rule. The people could not accept such deception of the then leadership. Finally, Bangabandhu showed the dream of democracy to these desperate people again. Disappointed people became optimistic again. All the people joined the procession of Bangabandhu and formed a tumultuous protest against the dictator except the tyrant of the autocratic nature of the dictator. Eventually, a bloody state of Bangladesh was created; The rule of the republic began – led by Bangabandhu, whose guardian Bangabandhu. The people began to think, under the leadership of which the creation of this republic, whose thunderous commitment to democracy, at least in its lifetime, this people will no longer have to think for democracy. But that thought of the people did not go far.
The military dictatorship started again with the brutal assassination of Bangabandhu and his family. After that, for 15 long years, sometimes direct military dictatorship, sometimes dictatorship continues at the turn of democracy. Later the people, led by political parties, started dreaming of democracy again; That dictatorial dictator fell through a mass uprising. The political leadership that emerged from the field of struggle against the dictatorship once again dreamed of the people, vowed to strengthen democracy, promised not to renege on their promises; One of those political parties, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, formed the government with the support of the majority of the people, through which a new journey of democracy began, with the strongest opposition, the Awami League, as our guardian. This opposition party has proved to be the true guardian of democracy by protesting the rigging of the Magura by-election. In that election, as soon as there was a slight scratch in the place of public ownership, he rushed to fulfill his duty as a watchdog; The protest against the BNP government started.
It became very popular among all the people of the country and the then BNP government was forced to include this method in the constitution in the face of popular demand.
Although the system was not entirely flawless, no subsequent government, without thinking of correcting these shortcomings, rejected the caretaker government system on the pretext of Justice Khairul Haque’s judgment. The place of empowerment of the people has shrunk as the caretaker government system, which has been achieved through many struggles and sacrifices, has been unilaterally scrapped without any demand or verification of public opinion.
Thus, in the current situation, on the one hand, the opposition party has failed to protect democracy, on the other hand, the distance between the ruling party and the people is increasing. Instead of relying on public support as the basis for the party to stay in power, it has to rely on its own organizational strength and various techniques.
In such a situation, the ruling party is avoiding the past examples of the opposition without verifying or correcting their own criticisms, and the weak opposition is trying to join the anti-government movement by gaining public support on the pretext of rescuing democracy. In other words, if you can win by wrestling on the highway, then the demand will be realized. Now the question is, how long will the people have to go on the field to keep the journey of democracy going on? The people have agitated to oust the British, they have agitated to oust the Pakistanis, they have agitated to oust the dictatorship, they have agitated to protect the change of power. And in every movement the common man has accepted the sacrifice; Lakhs of Nur Hossain have been martyred. Despite going through so many movements and struggles, the people of this country are not witnessing the triumph of uninterrupted democracy.
The ruling party must understand that it cannot move away from public support. The government should keep the door open for talks with the opposition parties without trapping the flatterers. And the opposition parties also have to come out of their mischievous attempts to deceive the people by engaging in anti-government activities and build public relations. If the space for individual freedom of the common man shrinks, it will not be good for either the government or the opposition.
People do not want such isolation; The common people of this country have always wanted the democracy shown by Suhrawardy-Bhasani-Bangabandhu. It is for this democracy that they have made this country independent. Democracy is a celebration of people’s rights and participatory elections. Even in the long 50 years of independence, a consensus election could not be framed. So far, many people have come up with various proposals for an election-time government, but none of them have been accepted permanently. As one of the pro-democracy people, I am also presenting a proposal in this regard for consideration.
My suggestion is that the government party should list the names of 12 of its MPs and submit a proposal to the Opposition for consideration. The opposition will nominate one chief adviser and five advisers from the proposed list. Similarly, the Opposition will determine the names of 10 persons and present them to the Government for consideration. From this list, the government party will finally nominate 5 advisors. Thus the final nominee will form an election-time government consisting of a chief adviser and 10 other advisers and will hand over power to the elected representatives at the end of the election.
In this system, on the one hand, it will be possible to accept the demands of the opposition’s caretaker government system, on the other hand, it will be possible to keep the declaration of the ruling party not to go beyond the constitution. In addition, the practice of developing individualistic relationships between different groups will be created. Just as a student is not afraid to take exams in a copy-free environment, so the popular and development-demanding ruling party must not be afraid to face the people by accepting the people’s demands and constructing an acceptable system of elections.
