China and the United States have signed a landmark agreement to increase cooperation in tackling climate change. The agreement reached at the Glasgow conference states that their cooperation will continue for the next decade. The two countries, the world’s largest emitters of carbon dioxide, have pledged in a statement. It says they will work together to keep global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius, according to the 2015 Paris Agreement.
They have promised to reduce the significant differences in targeting. Scientists say a catastrophic catastrophe could be avoided if global warming could be kept within 1.5 degrees. If it is possible to keep the temperature within this range, it will be possible to get closer to the temperature of the previous era of industrialization. Note that at the 2015 conference, it was promised that they would work to keep the temperature rise between 1.5 degrees and 2 degrees Celsius. This will be done by reducing carbon emissions.
Xi Jinhua, China’s top negotiator on climate change, told reporters that the two countries are far more connected than the gap between China and the United States.
US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to hold a virtual meeting next week. These two countries are seen as opposites in the world on various issues. There is strong technical opposition between them. U.S. claims China has become a threat to U.S. national security through technology products. Thus, the US relations with China have come to a standstill on the basis of various allegations. The US trade war with China has started. In this context, experts have called Wednesday’s joint statement “rare.”

They agreed on a number of issues, including methane emissions, conversion of clean energy and reduction of carbon emissions. But this week, China refused to sign a joint statement reducing methane emissions. This methane gas is the most harmful of the greenhouse gases. However, the problem is gone. About a hundred countries, including the United States and China, have signed the agreement. China has promised to formulate a national plan to address the problem.
Xi Jinping spoke at the conference after US Ambassador John Kerry. He says there is no shortage of disagreements between the United States and China. But in the case of climate cooperation, this disagreement will be further reduced. “From now on, every step will carry enough money and we will have a long way to go,” he said.
